Air fryer tortilla crisps with beer cheese sauce

  • 1 pack tortilla cut into bite size pieces.
  • Oil spray
  • Salt and pepper

Beer Cheese sauce

  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 250 ml milk
  • 150 ml ale beer or your favourite amber or porter beer
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • A pinch cayenne peppers
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 200 g cheddar cheese


  • Preheat the air fryer to 180˚C.
  • Spray your air fryer basket with oil and place the tortilla pieces. Spray with a little more oil and cook for 3-5 minutes, checking after 2 minutes to ensure the tortilla pieces are not sting altogether. Cook in batches so the tortillas can crisp up!
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and gradually add the flour, whisking to create a roux. Gradually add the milk whisking until smooth.
  • Stir in the spices, mustard, and beer, add the cheese a little at a time stirring until melted.
  • Stir frequently until the mixture is smooth, thick and bubbling. Keep warm until ready the serve the tortilla!
