Dunbrody Cookery School ( On-Site)
The on-site Dunbrody Cookery School has been designed to cater for all levels of cooks, from budding enthusiasts (Back to Basics) to the experienced gourmet (specialised courses). The perfect blend of Face-to-Face demonstration and hands-on individual tuition means that you will learn practically and be able to reproduce the dishes at home in your own kitchen. Chef-Instructor Julien Clemot will lead you through both a fun-filled and food-filled day where demonstration and hands on tuition fuse seamlessly. There’s always plenty of tasting too so don’t forget to bring your appetite!
Located just opposite Dunbrody Country House where the restaurant has received numerous awards the simple philosophy of under-stated but delicious food follows on in the Dunbrody Cookery School. All of the courses at the Dunbrody Cookery School have been personally designed by Celebrity Masterchef Kevin Dundon who can often be viewed on RTE in Ireland and PBS in the USA with his TV show Modern Irish Food, HEAT and BBC′s Saturday Kitchen. The cookery school has also received numerous excellent reports from magazines like Departures Magazine, Sainsbury′s Food, Waitrose Illustrated, Olive, Food & Wine and many newspapers too.
Under the care and guidance of our Cookery School Chef Instructor Julien Clemot, guests will learn the secrets of producing fine food using only the best of quality Irish ingredients. The emphasis at Dunbrody Cookery School is on freshness and seasonality of locally-sourced ingredients and utilising these to achieve fabulous dishes without the worry of overly-complicated recipes.
The courses includes, when available and possible , the participation of Kevin’s daily online live cook-along. ( depending on Kevin’s schedule.)
Courses range from a variety of one day courses to the ever-popular 2 day Dinner Parties for Six course. With groups of up to 10, we offer guests the chance to translate their enthusiasm and love for food into the real skills needed to produce fantastic food. Our belief is that cooking should be fun and our courses are designed to be fun also. A great option if you are looking to book a group is to look at booking the Lodge at Dunbrody for your accommodation.
One day courses range from Plant-Based Cooking, Easy Entertaining, BBQ & Grill, Seafood & Shellfish, Slow Cooking, Fusion…are part demonstration, part hands on. Priced at €175 for the day the one day course makes for a great day out or as a gift voucher for the foodie in your life. The Two Day Dinner Parties for Six is more extensive with more hands on tuition and is priced at €325. Maximum class size is 10 with a minimum of 3 bookings for the course to go ahead.
For the ultimate foodies, the Five Day Masterclass is probably right up your street – it features more challenging dishes, sauces, classics and the maximum class size if 5. The price for the Masterclass is €750. All the courses are non-residential but the hotel offers some great special offers for B&B or for small groups there’s the option of the Gate Lodge or Steward’s House as self-catering options too.
