Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 800 g beef minced
  • 200 g sausage meat
  • 100 g streaky bacon sliced into lardons
  • 2 onions finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped
  • 2 carrots grated
  • 1 stick celery chopped (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh oregano chopped
  • 2 tins chopped tomatoes 800ml
  • 4 tbsp tomato puree
  • 100 ml beef stock
  • 1 salt & ground balck pepper to seson
  • 300 g spagetti or other favourite side

Instructions
 

  • Over high heat, in a large sauté pan, drizzle the oil and add the minced beef, sausage meat and bacon. Sear and brown for 4-5 minutes stirring to break large lumps of beef. Remove from the heat and transfer to the slow cooker.
    Add the onion, carrot, garlic, celery, oregano, chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, beef stock. Stir to combine and cook on high for 3-5 hours or low for 7-8 hours.
    Check the seasoning and serve with your favourite side such as spaghetti.

Notes

The sausage meat and bacon will bring extra fat for extra flavour. You can omit them if you prefer a leaner result!
