  • 4 slices sourdough bread day old
  • 2 large eggs
  • 100 ml milk
  • 50 g caster sugar
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 200 g strawberries
  • 4 tbsp raspberry coulis
  • 4 tbsp mascarpone cheese optional
  • Icing sugar to serve


  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk and sugar.
  • Heat a non-stick pan over a low to medium heat and add the butter.
  • Quickly toss the bread slices in the egg mixture and use your hands to shake off excess egg mixture.
  • Carefully place the bread in the pan and saut√© them about 1 minute on each side over lower heat. (About 2 minutes in total).
  • Remove the coloured bread from the pan into the serving platter.
  • Scatter the fresh strawberries, raspberry coulis, and mascarpone cheese.
  • Add a squeeze of lemon juice and some icing sugar and serve immediately.
