Quick whisky BBQ Sauce

  • 200 g ketchup
  • 100 ml cider vinegar
  • 100 g dark muscovado sugar
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp smoked chipotle tabasco -optional
  • ½ orange juice
  • 50 ml whiskey - optional
  • 1 garlic clove crushed
  • 15 g butter


  • In a saucepan, place the ketchup, cider vinegar, muscovado sugar, tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, tabasco, orange juice, whiskey, garlic. Bring to the boil and simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sugar have dissolved and the sauce is glossy.
  • Remove from the heat, transfer to a jar or a bowl, and leave to cool.
  • Store, covered, in the fridge for a few days or in a sterilized jar for 2 months.


If you are not a fan of whisky, you can easily omit from the sauce.
