Cheesy Savoury Scones

Ingredients
- 250 g Self raising flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 75 g Butter cubed
- 60 g Cheddar Cheese grated
- ½ tsp rosemary chopped
- ½ tsp thyme chopped
- 1 Egg
- 75 ml buttermilk
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 160˚C. grease a 18cm cake tin or cast iron dish.
- in a bowl, Place the flour, baking powder and the butter, cheese, chopped herbs.
- rub together until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add the egg and pour in the buttermilk. Gently combine and it forms a dough. Avoid overworking the dough to ensure a better rise of the scones.
- Place the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and shape into a flatten ball to fit the tin. Place in the cake tin. Brush with some egg wash and sprinkle extra cheese over if desired.
- Slit with a knife the dough into 6 wedges.
- Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and serve warm with your favourite breakfast items.
